The short version

Rankings on javea.guide are never for sale. Money can buy tools and clearly labelled "Sponsored" spaces, shown separately from the ranked list — never a better position in it.

How lists are ordered

Directory lists are ordered by public rating data: the average star rating, weighted by how many reviews it is based on, so a 4.8 from 500 reviews ranks above a 5.0 from 3. A rating based on only a few reviews is first pulled towards the typical rating for that kind of business, until there are enough reviews to trust it.

Each public review profile counts once: if two of our entries share one review profile, only one of them is ranked. Entries that are places rather than businesses (beaches, viewpoints) and entries whose rating data we could not trust are listed but not ranked.

The "Top-rated" lists on the home page only show businesses whose details we have confirmed from at least two independent sources, or checked ourselves. Every other business is still listed and ranked in the directory.

One extra signal is added, and every business can earn it for free: if the verified owner has confirmed their details (hours, contact, services) within the last 12 months, the listing gets a small data-quality boost, because confirmed information is more reliable for you. Claiming and confirming never costs anything.

You can always re-sort a list by rating or by name.

What businesses can pay for

Sponsored spaces: up to two cards per page, marked "Sponsored", shown above or beside the ranked list. The same business still appears in the ranked list only at the position its public data earns.

Tools: extra photos, a professionally translated description, tracked contact buttons, statistics and reports. These change how a listing looks, not where it ranks.

Placements are billed at their full price only once a listing actually receives an audience: at least 100 views in a calendar month. Before that, only the tools that work from day one are billed (Featured at the Plus rate). The step-up is announced 14 days ahead, is never retroactive, and drops back automatically after 2 months in a row under 100 views. Prices are public on our pricing page.

Sponsored guide boxes

A guide can carry at most one sponsor box and one short "presented by" line. Both are marked "Sponsored", link to the sponsor with a sponsored link, and run only for the dates agreed. The sponsor never writes or changes the guide.

There are no sponsor boxes on medical, legal, safety or emergency guides or on the Essentials page, and none from estate agencies or other property businesses. We count clicks on a sponsor link with the same cookieless counter as everything else: no tracking pixels.

Where we never sell placements

No sponsored spaces on emergency information, the Essentials page, medical or legal-safety content, or for property sales and lettings.

Affiliate links

Some outbound links are affiliate or partner links: if you book or buy through them we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. They are always marked next to the button. A business's own booking link always wins over any partner of ours.

Who runs this site

javea.guide is run by Weir Digital Media, a web and marketing studio. Businesses that claim their listing may be offered Weir Digital Media services; buying them has no effect on rankings, and visitors to the directory are never shown them.

Businesses we work with commercially

Some businesses listed on javea.guide are also Weir Digital Media clients. They get no ranking advantage and no free Sponsored spaces; anything they buy here is billed and labelled like anyone else's, and editorial mentions of them are labelled.
