What we collect

This site works without accounts, and without advertising or analytics trackers.

If you request a guide, join the newsletter, claim a business listing, or fill in one of the short forms on our tool pages (for example the insurance cover check), we store what you type — your email address, and any other answers you give us, such as the type of business, your renewal month, or the timeline you told us — on our own server, and our team is notified so someone can follow up.

If you save a property search for email alerts, we store your email address, the search filters you chose (area, price, bedrooms) and how often you asked to be emailed, until you unsubscribe using the link in each alert email — that link deletes your subscription outright.

When you click an outbound partner link (marked with a disclosure), we log the click — time, the page it came from, and your browser type — without your name or email. We use this to understand which pages are useful.

Several of the forms above also record your IP address alongside your submission, as a standard spam-prevention measure. Separately, our web server keeps its own standard technical logs (IP address, pages requested) for security and troubleshooting, as virtually every website does.

If you place a marketplace ad, we store the ad, your contact details and your IP address for 60 days from the posting date, or until you delete the ad yourself, whichever comes first. Photos are automatically stripped of hidden location data, including GPS, when we approve the ad. Other users can see the phone number and email address you provided, so buyers and sellers can get in touch directly. If someone reports an ad, we keep that report — with a privacy-reduced version of the reporter's IP address — for moderation.

Phone numbers shown against directory business listings are masked until the business claims its listing; claiming is free and reveals the full number.

If you sign in and add personal preferences to your account — such as your interests, household or property plans — we store those too, used only to personalise the suggestions shown to you on your account page, and deleted along with your account.

What we do with it

We use your email only for what you asked for — sending the guide, the newsletter, a reply about your listing, your saved-search alerts, or a follow-up about the tool you used.

We do not sell personal data. We do not share it with third parties, except where you explicitly ask us to introduce you to a service provider — and we tell you at that moment.

Business information shown in the directory (names, addresses, opening hours, ratings) is public business information, not personal data about you.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — email us or use any form on the site and we will act on it. We do not enforce a fixed retention period beyond what is stated here: we keep what you send us until you ask us to delete it.

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time by replying to any email we send, and from property alerts at any time using the link in each alert email.
